Local Services Ads: Partner Updates [June 2021]

Welcome to the latest edition of Local Services Ads Partner Updates, where Google provides you with the most recent developments in Local Services Ads. Here’s what’s happening:

General Updates

1. Local Services Ads User Management: Account Access Feature

In July, Google is rolling out a simplified user management module for
Local Services Ads. This module, accessible through the ‘Account access’ tab in Local Services Ads MCC dashboards, mirrors the functionality of Google Ads’ ‘Account access’ page. It supports several use cases:

  • Displaying users with CID access
  • Modifying existing users’ access levels
  • Removing users from a CID
  • Adding new users to a CID with specified access levels
  • Displaying ongoing invitations
  • Accepting invitations to a Local Services Ads account
  • Ending MCC relationships

Please note that this new account access tab directly interacts with Google Ads’ Access Levels infrastructure, ensuring actions taken here are reflected in the core Ads.

3. Reminder: A Few Verticals Require Specific Job Types for General Vertical Queries

A reminder – there are 4 verticals that require a specific job type to appear in general category searches. For other verticals, as long as they are signed up for the category, their
ad will trigger on the category search (e.g., cleaner near me, HVAC near me, etc).

  • To appear in “locksmith near me” searches, a provider must select the Vehicle lockout job type.
  • To appear in “plumber near me” searches, a provider must select Unclog drain OR Repair toilet job type.
  • To appear in “window cleaning near me” searches, a provider must select Window Cleaning job type.

To appear in “water damage near me” searches, a provider must select Water damage cleanup/repair OR Fire damage cleanup/repair job types.

Verifications & Onboarding Updates

1. IICRC Site Delay: Water Damage Providers

For Water Damage providers, some states offer licenses that can be verified on the
IICRC website. The IICRC is working on site improvements, so not all licenses will be found in the database. Please note that this site is not owned by Google; it’s owned by IICRC. Our verification teams will use alternative methods for these license reviews, which may take 3-5 business days to complete.

2. Reminder: Background Check Status Transfer

Google’s Verifications team can transfer a PASSED background check status between multiple CIDs if:

  • The business names and addresses are identical, and vertical requirements match for both CIDs.
  • Please note that if the two CIDs have different verticals requiring distinct levels of checks, the background check status cannot be transferred.

To request a background check status transfer, please reach out through Google’s Local Services Ads support channels. Keep in mind that requests failing to meet the above criteria will be denied.
