Local Services Ads Partner Updates [July 2022]

Welcome to the July edition of Google’s Local Services Ads Partner Updates. Here’s what you need to know:

Insights Page in the Google Ads UI

Google Ads now offers an Insights Page, allowing you to delve into search terms that triggered your ads and observe week-over-week trends related to costs and conversions. Here are the details:

  • Insights can be accessed at either the account level or the individual campaign level, although some insight types are only available at specific levels or for certain campaign types.
  • Learn more about Insights on the Google Ads Help Center [1].

New: Single Business Local Services Ads for Mobile

Recognizing the challenges of entering new verticals due to the requirement for LSA ad units to involve 2 or more businesses, Google Local Services (GLS) is experimenting with single business Local Services Ads for mobile searches. Here’s what you should know:

  • This change applies globally and across all launched verticals.
  • The rollout is gradual, initially affecting only a small percentage of mobile searches. Over the coming weeks, it will expand to cover more mobile searches.
  • Businesses must pass all verifications to appear in single business Local Services Ads.
  • The desktop experience remains unaffected.

This adjustment eliminates the 2+ business requirement for LSA ads to trigger, enabling businesses in emerging verticals or underserved areas to start receiving leads as soon as their ads are approved, without waiting for other local businesses to be approved.

Enforced 5+ Review Requirement for Select Verticals

Local Services Ads has updated its verification criteria for several industries. Effective July 8th, the following verticals now require a minimum of 5 customer reviews to launch a new ad: Real Estate, Roofer, HVAC, House Cleaner, Personal Injury Lawyer, and Tree Service businesses.

  • If your ad is already live, this change does not impact you. However, we encourage you to aim for 5+ reviews, as reviews enhance trust and increase opportunities to connect with potential clients.
