Enhanced Verification for Law Businesses

Ensuring trust and safety within Google is paramount. As part of this commitment:

  • Identity Verification: Google is introducing an identity verification step for lawyers in select states by the end of 2024. This is in addition to the existing license check to confirm business affiliation. It applies to business owners, senior partners, and featured professionals.

Why the Update?

This measure is designed to bolster protection against impersonation attempts, safeguarding both professionals and consumers from potential fraud.

Best Practices for a Smooth Process

  • Use the name as it appears on your identity card to expedite verification.
  • Anticipate manual review for name deviations, possibly prolonging the process.

Introducing the Handyman to Painter Migration

In a move to better categorize our services, the Painter category has been separated from Handyman services, becoming its own distinct vertical complete with an expanded services list.

Transition Details

  • Handyman providers currently offering painting services will transition to the Painter vertical. Those affected received an email with details regarding this change.
  • A painter’s license upload will be required for continued painting lead reception in areas where it’s mandated.

Direct Business Search (Branded Queries) Launch

Google has fully rolled out Direct Business Search across the US, accessible via mobile. This feature ensures that when someone directly searches for your brand or business, your Local Services ad uniquely occupies the spotlight.

Frequently Asked Questions Addressed

  • Brand Bidding: Competitors cannot bid on your business name in LSA. Your ad remains distinctive in search results for branded queries.
  • Cost Implications: The cost of a branded lead mirrors that of a general lead. Importantly, charges apply solely to new customer interactions.
  • Lead Segregation: Currently, branded leads are not differentiated in the inbox, but we’re receptive to feedback and exploring ways to enhance this.

In striving for excellence and evolution, these updates from Google Local Services Ads aim to extend our support across a broader spectrum of services while ensuring our platform remains a trusted marketplace for both providers and consumers. We look forward to fostering growth for your business with these developments.
